James R. Krenis

James Krenis received his Juris Doctor from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis. While in law school he was the student president of the American Association for Justice. He also received the Dean's Distinguished Service Award, and is a member of MENSA.

He is admitted to practice in all Tennessee State trial and appellate courts, and the Western and Middle federal court districts. He is on the board of governors for both the American Association for Justice and the Tennessee Association for Justice, is a hearing officer for the Tennessee Supreme Court Board of Professional Responsibility.

He has a special interest in litigation involving defective baby formula. SuperLawyers magazine named him a 2009 Mid-South Rising Star in the field of workers' compensation.

Mr. Krenis grew up in New York City, then moved to New Jersey where he graduated with a B.A. in Journalism from Rutgers University in 1993. He was an active member of his community near Princeton, founding a video production company and serving as a volunteer firefighter. He was awarded a national citation of excellence for his video work and achieved the rank of assistant chief and president of the fire company.

He has been active in the Jackson community, formerly showing horses and serving as a volunteer firefighter when he lived in the county, and now serving on the Board of Directors of the Symphony and a member of the Ruritan Club. He also serves as an ombudsman with the Department of Defense assisting returning National Guard service men and women.

James is married to the former Myra Cavness and has one daughter, Alexis. He has two dogs, and spends a lot of recreational time playing tennis or competing in triathlons and running races. He has competed in 14 USTA divisions at the state, regional and national levels. He has recently held two top-200 national rankings, two #2 rankings and #1 rankings in both Tennessee and an eight-state region.
