Michael Hartup
Michael Hartup graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the Fogelman College of Business and Economics at the University of Memphis. He then earned his Juris Doctor from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis in 2003.
While attending law school, Mr. Hartup clerked for the law firm of Tatum & Weinman in Henderson, Tennessee. Upon graduation, he worked as an associate attorney at the firm of Smith & Vandiver in Jackson, where he practiced law in the areas of Social Security Disability, Workers Compensation, and Personal Injury until October 2005. He then practiced at Dale L. Buchanan & Associates, where he opened their Jackson office and practiced exclusively Social Security Disability law. Mr. Hartup joined the Hill Boren team in December 2007 to run the firm's large Social Security practice.
Mr. Hartup is a member of the Jackson Madison County Bar Association, the Tennessee Association for Justice, and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives. He is a past board member of the Young Lawyers Division of the Madison County Bar Association, and he plans to sit as a board member for the Madison County Court Appointed Special Advocates for Abused and Neglected Children in the upcoming 2008 term.
Mike is a West Tennessee native. He spent his freshman through junior years of high school in New Orleans, Louisiana, but returned home to graduate from Germantown High School in 1991. Following high school, he pursued a career as a professional show horse rider and trainer until he attended college in 1996.
Mr. Hartup resides in Jackson with his wife, Mary Glenn, who is also an attorney, and their daughter, LuAnne Grace. They are members of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson. In his spare time, Mr. Hartup enjoys fly-fishing and duck hunting.
