Family Receives Settlement for Negligence Resulting in DeathT
T. Robert and Tamara Hill recently settled a wrongful death case against a local nursing home and an area physician. The case involved a failure on the part of both the nursing home and the attending physician to timely recognize and address the warning signs of severe dehydration. These failures led to the death of a 68 year-old woman 13 days after she was admitted to the facility solely for rehabilitation following a fracture. The case settled for a total of $500,000 with $350,000 from the nursing home and $150,000 from the physician.

Family Receives Settlement for Negligence Resulting in Death
T. Robert Hill and Tamara Hill negotiated a confidential settlement for the parents of a man who died in a nursing home as a result of medical and nursing home negligence. The man was HIV positive and had multiple medical problems, but both the nursing home staff and the attending staff failed to give appropriate medications to prevent recurrent pulmonary embolism.

A West Tennessee Nursing Home's staff failed to change an indwelling catheter in a stroke victim for over three months.  This failure resulted in a severe infection which led to a significant decline in the patient's overall health.  A confidential settlement was reached. Neglect by Nursing Home Staff Leads to Blood Infection and Death
A Mid-South Nursing Home's staff failed to give multiple doses of intravenous antibiotics to an infected patient following hospitalization.  This failure to follow physician's orders resulted in severe sepsis and death. This case settled for a confidential amount. Robert & Tamara Hill represented the family of the victim.

Confidential Settlement
Mr. Hill recently represented the family of a nursing home resident who suffered serious injuries as a result of neglect. The resident developed gangrene in her foot, which then became infested with maggots. She also developed a serious bed sore on her backside which became infected. These injuries eventually led to the resident's death. The parties reached a confidential settlement following the selection of the jury.

$675,000.00 SETTLEMENT
An 81 year old nursing home resident suffering from terminal prostate cancer was smoking unsupervised when his clothing caught fire resulting in third degree burns. Resident died of his injuries three days later. $675,000.00 Settlement was reached at mediation one month prior to trial. Mr. Hill represented the plaintiffs.

Ruptured Disk Settlement
Ricky Boren represented a director of nursing at a nursing home who sustained a non-surgical ruptured disc. She was unable to have surgery due to prior medical problems. The Trial Judge found her to be totally disabled and awarded her benefits to age 65.
